Tourism Villages of Kurdistan Province

(New Tourism Destinations)

Due to different historical, geographical, cultural conditions as well as unique architecture of villages at the hillside of mountains and near the rivers, Kurdistan province has the highest number of tourism villages. So that ancient region of Uraman is called Hezar Masouleh region because of lots of numbers of villages with staircase architecture. Most of these villages are located at the west of the province. Some of these tourism villages are introduced as follows:

Mianeh

Geographical Situation: 75 Km of Sanandaj-Marivan road, general region of Komasi, through Azad Dam road

Tourism Attractions: staircase architecture using local materials, combination of stone and wood, spectacular view of jungle, fruit gardens, located in adjacent to Azad dam, off-road tours at the hillsides, using the garden houses and alleys in the village for ecotourism.

Daraki

Geographical Situation: 37 Km of Marivan-Uraman road known as Nodsheh

Tourism Attractions: spectacular landscape because of special architecture of stone made houses, semi-staircase architecture, using hillsides and mountains by climbers and rock climbers, beautiful valley called “Darband Kalam”, Souteh countryside, unique jungle and mountainous view of Uraman, pleasant resorts, Galangan Yeylaq Pir Rostam, seasonal waterfall of Slour, fritillaries plain, Dalani border road, Tattah meandrous mountain pass connected to Halabche in Kurdistan-Iraq.

Saral

Including Sofi Blah, Goricheh and Droyan Fars

Geographical Situation: 35 Km of Sanandaj-Marivan, on the right side towards Janevareh

Tourism Attractions: off-road and ecotourism tours, rural architecture with local material and untouchable texture including cob, stone and wood on Qarseqolan path between Sofi Blah to Goricheh, climbing path of Darvish Olia mountain, untouchable cave of Darvish Olia for adventure tourism.

High plains and pastures known as “Sar Takht Saral” which is considered as one of the most valuable varieties of vegetation in the country, located between Goricheh and Droyan Fars villages.

Visiting and staying near the springs called “Qabr Salim” on Droyan Fars path to the adjacent mountain called “Qala”

Camping at the heights of 3130 overlook Saral plains near Mezget Mirza mountain

Dolaw

Geographical Situation: 42 Km of Sanandaj road  through Kamyaran, Cham So path

Tourism Attractions: staircase architecture, alleys near the gardens, picturesque view of the village and gardens around it, Sheikh Mohammad Tekyeh (Tekyeh Sheikh Hadi), staying in rural houses, fruit and strawberry gardens (visitors could pick them), climbing path of Avalan

Navareh

Geographical Situation: 18 Km of Sanandaj-Marivan former road

Tourism Attractions: special texture of rural houses (stone made), Ayatollah Mardokh tomb and garden, one of the most famous of Kurdistan scholars, climbing path of Abidar, gardens and resorts around it

Tangisar

Geographical Situation: 25 Km of Sanandaj-Kamyaran road and 20 Km of subsidiary road known as “So”

Tourism Attractions: holding off-road and ecotourism tours, unique staircase architecture, spectacular landscape of rural alleys and houses, hillsides of Koreh Maryam, Gol Zard and Shaneshin mountains (the highest ones in Zhavehroud region, off-road path to Shareh mountains, Mirgahvar pastures, camping and staying out all night long

Naw

Geographical Situation: 80 Km of Marivan-Hajij road in the center of Uraman region

Tourism Attractions: holding off-road and ecotourism tours, staircase and dry stone architecture, using local materials, beautiful walking path of the village to Serajgah and Koli, visiting Polor and Bilojeh spring, camping in Koli plain, and dreamy view of the mountains around the village including Takhtsani, Kosalan, Shaho, and resort of Daryan dam, visiting Bil spring, Hajij village and Pir Obeidollah known as Koseh Hajij

Tangivar

Geographical Situation: 45 Km of Kamyaran-Marivan road on Palangan path

Tourism Attractions: holding off-road and ecotourism tours, visiting the local architectural texture of the village, historical inscription of Tangivar near the village in the valley reached Palangan, scenery and untouchable waling path of Tangivar to Shaho mountain (sometime the path is just 1 meter), Hanieh and Kouziban yeylaqs, camping at Hanieh yeylaq, professional climbing of Pir Khedr mountain (one of Shaho mountains-Kashtariha and Blaloukan plain), walking path of Tangivar valley to Palangan, visiting the gate of Uraman and several waterfalls on the path

Zhivar

Geographical Situation: 70 Km of Marivan-Hajij road (at Kosalan hillsides)

Tourism Attractions: it is one of the most important villages with staircase architecture, beautiful view of roaring river of Sirvan, holding off-road tours, the highest path of off-road on “Hanaylar”, “Rasaban” and “Qalamian” yeylaqs and camping there, visiting Vishe springs, walking through pomegranate and fig gardens, ancient stone carvings in Hanaylar path.

Diweznaw

Geographical Situation: 77 Km of Kamyaran-Marivan road, subsidiary path with the length of 7 Km after Sourahto village

Tourism Attractions: center of rural handicrafts of Uraman region, visiting the large spring of Teloksan (one of the rarest springs in Iran), the biggest cold water fishery complex in Iran, walking through the village towards Hawara Barza, visiting traditional life in Uraman (Hawarneshini), rafting from Palangan to Diweznaw, holding Nowroz in February.

Jolandeh

Geographical Situation: it is one of the villages of Sarvabad, located at 40 Km of Sarvabad-Kamyaran road and subsidiary path with the length of 4 Km from Dasahard Y-way.

The biggest cold water complex for breeding fish in the Middle East

Kani Jomeh mineral water spring

Walking through Kaw, Sarkaw, Momak, Khoramrou, Hanajola, Hasara Gawri and Sisra mountain pass and Shaho Mountain
